I once asked the chair of the Bible department at a quasi Christian college the question, “What is the most loving and kind way to tell someone they are a heretic?”

Allow me to ask you…
How much more loving and kind could it possibly be when you see a house that is on fire with people inside who likely will perish if you don’t give warning? The very act of giving warning is an expression of love. Apologetics in Christianity means to offer a defense. The apologetic in its very nature may be viewed by those in the opposing position as being polemical.

I will be the first to admit that I am rough, unpolished and not very well accomplished at the art or practice of disputation…

Being ever so thankful for Sovereign grace and knowing that NONE will perish whom Christ came does not negate a believer from having a sense of urgency with reaching the lost and sharing the true gospel. God has planned the means to the end…

I had not heard about your website and it was only by a friend whom was led to repent and leave the Roman catholic church by trusting the real Jesus of the Bible to check out your website… He is growing in the Lord and I gave him a copy of the Westminster Confession of Faith with Larger & Shorter Catechism with scripture proofs http://www.reformed.org/documents/wcf_with_proofs/ to help him get grounded in the very basics of Biblical Christianity. He is still tormented by the enemy for leaving the cult of the papacy but he is going to be ok. So it was out of love and concern for his spiritual growth that I ventured to check out your website and thought about commenting on the speaker whom you wished to publicize or your website…

At the very least, I trust that my comments encourage those whom are serious about learning about apologetics to study the subject more… If it leads someone who has been deceived by the cult of the Roman catholic church to repent and trust the real Jesus then this is something that we all should give thanks and praise for as well… If my apology for Biblical apologetics and commentary on the writer and speaker at PSU offends then I will only concede that my presentation could be more refined in this forum but I will certainly not repent for the Biblical positions of my polemic on the author and the cult he is a member and is obviously proselytizing with his book and lectures.

But I have decided to post it for educational purposes, because it provides a perfect illustration of how not to communicate in this forum.

In your mind, you may be doing what is right by speaking truth without compromise. You are certainly entitled to your beliefs, and I’m sure that some of what you believe is correct. But please stop and consider how utterly counterproductive this kind of discourse can be. It is unpersuasive. It sends a message to the world that Christians are insensitive, intolerant, and in your face. You may disagree with Dr. Kreeft for whatever reason. He is surely not right on everything, as none of us are. But he possesses love, without which we are nothing (1Co 13:2). Forgive me for being so blunt with you, but you were blunt first.

The mere fact that Dr. Kreeft has not repented and left the synagogue of satan, from following the pope who is an “antichrist, that man of sin, and son of perdition, that exalts himself, in the Church, against Christ and all that is called God.” REF WCF Ch.XXV.V and embraced Biblical Christianity makes him guilty until proven innocent with anything he says or writes…
Regarding apologetics, Dr. Keeft’s book does no justice with the subject of apologetics. The book is merely a Catholic’s rational approach to explain historical events and to support his conclusion. He does no justice with the subject of apologetics with no mention or comparison or contrast made between the evendtialist and presuppositional schools of thought in apologetics. More than likely it is beyond him to comprehend because he is lost until he repents and trusts the real Jesus.
If a person wants a good primer on apologetics they would be much better served by reading “Every Thought Captive” by Richard Pratt Jr.
Dr. Keeft will not understand because he does not believe Biblical Christianity. Pray that he would be led to repent and trust the real Jesus and thus as a result leave the catholic church which leads multitudes to hell while condemning those who trust Christ and Him alone… The principles of the Reformation still stand true: “Sola Scriptura” – Only Scripture and “Tota Scriptura” – All of Scripture.
If you are interested in understanding apologetics, you should read, Defense of the Faith by Cornelius Van Til.
