Great question, Sara. Obviously it is a analogy, a useful one at times, but very limited and not appropriate in many contexts.

The reason why this video resonated with me is that I have been realizing how little I truly know about the work of the Holy Spirit. I used to think that if we are in Christ, then we are filled with the Holy Spirit, and he is always leading and guiding us. I used to think that the Holy Spirit illuminates the rational mind of Christians who study the Bible. Those statements are not wrong. They are quite true.

However, I have noticed some unexpected new work of the Holy Spirit popping up here and there in my (our) church. My conversations with you are a part of that. But I am seeing other things, new strange things that I have never seen before. Fresh winds of the Spirit are clearly blowing. This is thrilling to me, but it is also scary, because it reveals that we are not in the driver's seat. It is God's tractor, and he is driving it where he will. This is an exciting time. It is also a time of spiritual warfare. All is calm for now. But storms may be looming on the horizon. Please join with me in prayer for all of us, that we may be pure and holy, defeating the enemy within us (within me, primarily) and persevering to the future of abundant blessing. God be with you.

Hi, I liked this video a lot as well, at first. But then it got me thinking... how comparable is the Bible to a how-to manual?
